Policy – Resident
Case Log Audit
Resident
case logs will be audited by the residency program
directors and administrators. All residents will be scheduled
for an audit at least once per year. Residents may be asked to provide anesthesia
records of their cases.
Documentation: Pertinent
anesthesia technique, procedures, patient age, surgical procedure in accordance
with those listed as ACGME requirements.
Procedure
- Approximately 5 residents
will be audited monthly.
- The residents must submit a copy of
the requested Residency Case Log and a set of the substantiating documentation
to the Residency Coordinator by the 10th day of the month.
- The documentation will
be compared to Department information.
- Discrepancies will be discussed with
the resident.
- The Program Director may request that
a resident be audited monthly until there is sufficient proof that Case
Logs are accurate.
- Failure by the resident to provide
substantiating or accurate documentation may be cause for discipline by
the Clinical Competence Committee.
