UCLA Residents

The UCLA Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine offers ACGME-accredited clinical fellowships in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Pain Medicine, and Pediatric Anesthesiology. We also offer clinical fellowships in Liver Transplantation Anesthesiology, Neurosurgical Anesthesiology, Obstetric Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, Regional Anesthesiology, Thoracic Anesthesiology as well as training in Advanced Transesophageal Echocardiography, Basic Science and Clinical Research, and Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) Program.

The UCLA Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine oversees the perioperative management of approximately 50,000 surgeries and procedures each year. The Department has over 100 faculty in all clinical subspecialties with 3 endowed chairs and professorships. Trainees include 100 categorical anesthesiology residents and 20 subspecialty fellows. The Department’s faculty and trainees staff approximately 60 clinical sites each day including our state of the art Operating Rooms, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Intensive Care Units, Obstetric Anesthesia Service, Ophthalmic Anesthesiology Service, and Pain Management Center at 4 UCLA facilities: the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (RRUMC), the 200 Medical Plaza Peter Morton Ambulatory Building, the Jules Stein Eye Institute, and the Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital. Areas of specialization include but are not limited to anesthesia for general surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, pediatric surgery, liver transplantation and other visceral organ transplant surgery, orthopedics, head and neck surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, opthomalogy, interventional radiology, and anesthesia for invasive medical procedures.
