Pediatric Anesthesiology

The team of anesthesiologists dedicated to providing care to patients at Mattel Children’s Hospital delivers anesthesia services to neonates, infants, and children. Our skilled anesthesiologists care for patients undergoing a full range of pediatric surgical procedures including pediatric congenital heart disease, organ transplantation (including liver, small bowel, pancreas, and heart), craniofacial reconstruction, neurosurgery, trauma and complex head and neck, orthopedic, urologic and general pediatric surgery. The staff also works closely with various other pediatric subspecialties in an outpatient and inpatient setting to provide anesthesia and analgesia for therapeutic and diagnostic studies including cardiac catheterization, MRI, and endoscopies as well as bone marrow biopsies, lumbar puncture, and radiation therapy for children undergoing treatment for oncologic disorders. Residents rotating on the service have the opportunity to care for a wide range of pediatric patients from healthy to critically ill, very premature to teenagers, in a variety of venues (outpatient and inpatient surgery and numerous “offsite” locations), providing for an unsurpassed fellowship-level educational experience.
