Techniques: General electrophysiology: Ionic and gating currents, noise analysis and single channel measurements in expressed channels. Patch recordings in heart and smooth muscle cells. Optical Techniques: Development of microscopy beyond the diffraction limit to start defining the molecular identity of proteins in the cardiovascular system. High resolution confocal microscopy with 3 D reconstruction for protein localization in cellular compartments. Identification of molecular partners with proteomics.
