Techniques:

General electrophysiology: Ionic and gating currents, noise analysis and single channel measurements in expressed channels.  Patch recordings in heart and smooth muscle cells.  Mechanical recordings in heart and smooth muscle cells.

Optical Techniques: Development of microscopy beyond the diffraction limit to start defining the molecular identity of proteins in the cardiovascular system. High resolution confocal microscopy with 3 D reconstruction for protein localization in cellular compartments. Identification of molecular partners with proteomics.

Molecular biology: RT-PCR, Real Time PCR, RNAse protection assay, microarray technology, mutagenesis, molecular cloning, cell transfection, etc.

Cell Biology: Western blot analysis, subcellular centrifugation, immunocytochemistry, protein colocalization, trafficking, FRET, Ca2+ transients, etc. 

Small Animal Physiology: Assesment of cardiovascular function with non-invasive and imaging techniques.
